The Holts Academy of Jewellery is a not for profit social enterprise setup to provide skills training and development for those in the UK Jewellery trade and those wishing to enter the trade. Alongside our jewellery courses we offer an array of jewellery retail courses, masterclasses and bespoke options. We are currently working to upload some new and exciting training for retail on our site and will have some groundbreaking news later this year. Watch this space!

Supporting over 800 individuals per year with training and development activities, The Academy is quite simply unique amongst training providers. A big claim, yes. But behind the claim, the very heart of the Academy lies in our reason for existing. Born out of the industry in 1999 from a family run business in Hatton Garden that has been trading since 1948, we understand the industry because we are part of the industry.

 As a not for profit social enterprise we are engaged in the sector for the passion of adult education and training and the very real impact it can have on creating business growth.

The Academy does not operate ‘term time’ only training. We are open all year, providing a variety of options for learning, be it during the day, evening or weekends. No less than you would expect.

Our Tutors - Unlike many providers we do not employ ‘theoretical tutors’, in fact we pride ourselves on the strength that all of our training is delivered by expert craftsmen and women working full time in the trade in their chosen discipline. This stands testament to the reputation of the Academy – rather than seeing this as ‘training the competition’ some of the industries best-known names are sharing their skills to contribute to the regeneration of the sector.

We have over 300 collective years worth of experienced tutors delivering courses to small groups of students, ensuring you get the absolute maximum input and benefit from a lifetime of experience, not just to enrich your studies, but to enliven them.

But we recognise that Providing knowledge and skills isn’t simply about courses. Here at the Academy we strive to have the widest range of services available to ensure that you get the best from the industry. Whether sharing good practice, improving the performance of your business, reducing your environmental footprint or learning new techniques, we have a full range of services, programmes and seminars that can help.

 

Our masterclasses are typically full day events delivered by credible names on topics that will, amongst other things, expand your use of technology, better your visual display or help you plan a strategy to get the best out of your business. Crammed full of tips with focused question and answer sessions, our masterclasses enable you to make best use of time away from your business. Whether learning from someone’s lifetime of experience or gaining technical knowledge from an expert, our masterclasses aim to make full use of your precious time.

We listen to Your Needs! Whether we do not have something available at the moment or you would like us to try and organise a specific topic, let us know what you would like to see running and we will do our best to source the ideal speaker and put together a session that can help.

 

Our seminar programme is based around real business issues, created to be specific to the jewellery industry. We know that if you are a diamond mounter, you most likely do not want to learn a new trade, but we do realise that you are running a business, and this is where the Academy really can help. Seminars run in various formats usually a few hours long, during the day or evening, allowing you attend when best suits you. Whether you need guidance on developing E-commerce, marketing or business planning, we have an ideal programme that can help.
