The prestigious Holts Academy of Jewellery in Hatton Garden has joined forces with Cookson Precious Metals, the largest manufacturer and supplier of products to the jewellery trade. Together they are the presenting sponsors and official suppliers of the world’s largest international skills competition, the internationally acclaimed World Skills.

This year from 5th – 8th October 2011, World Skills 2011 is being hosted by the UK at the Excel Arena in London. Over four days, an incredible 1,000 talented competitors from more than fifty countries, will be competing in forty six skill areas and amongst these will be jewellery making!

As a way of engaging the public with vocational jewellery careers and learning more about the materials used to make jewellery, Holts Academy and Cooksons are launching the Have A Go campaign, encouraging people to take part in different activities for the first time and be inspired to start a new and exciting career. With backers including The Mayor of London Boris Johnson along with many celebrities like JLS, Will Young, Paul McKenna, Joan Rivers and Dame Helen Mirren the Have A Go campaign cannot fail to engage a new audience!

Now with celebrity jewellery designer Shaun Leane as an ambassador, Holts Academy of Jewellery and Cookson are putting on an unforgettable Have A Go event, giving 150,000 expected visitors the opportunity to make their own personalised medals and walk away feeling like a champion!
