Holts Academy of Jewellery - The Vocational University of Skills  - are now recruiting for some exciting new positions to start as soon as possible.

 

Since opening their doors in 1999 Holts Academy of Jewellery have trained over 6,000 people in essential skills for the industry.  2012 sees their 13th birthday and the continuation of an exciting period of expansion.

 

Now serving the industry across two Hatton Garden locations, the Academy is one of the best equipped teaching workshops in the UK.  As an independent not for profit social enterprise we continue the values of family, integrity and sharing of knowledge for which we are renowned.

 

The Academy is looking for highly motivated individuals with experience of the jewellery industry to fill several roles in this year.

Post 1: Course and Product Sales Coordinator  - Full time

 

 

The post is new and recognises the Academy desire to improve our sales success. You will provide outstanding customer service at all times carefully matching each individual to a course that best meets their needs and desire outcome and then use your sales techniques to ensure you close the deal.

 

You will also be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the level and source of enquiries and make recommendations on which marketing, PR and Advertising avenues are proving to be most effective.

 

Keeping an eye on other offerings you will ensure The Academy remains the finest UK training provider of Vocational Jewellery Skills, you will also report to the Head of Student Services on any trends or needs that emerge in order that the Academy is able to capitalise on demand. 

 

Taking full responsibility for our sales tools such as newsletters and supporting with the Academy website developments, you will utilise them to ensure programmes and courses fill but you will also have a face to face role to play with students on courses by ensuring link selling and progression opportunities are clearly and effectively communicated.

 

Making recommendations for improving the quality of information and the development of a CMS will also be a key element for your post.

 

 


Post 2: Student Engagement Officer  - Full or Part time

 

You will be the face of the academy and you will be responsible for the identification, organisation and delivery of our entire external student facing activities.

 

Used as a tool to promote the Academy and the jewellery trade you will need to inspire students from across our demographic reach (whether 16 year olds leaving school and wishing to gain a skilled career, apprentices, returners to work, those seeking a career change or simply those interested in finding out more about the industry).

 

Our mission is to support the industry and one way in which we do this is by helping people start or continue their skills journey until they ultimately are employed or have started a business in the jewellery sector, your role will be key to this happening. Working with a number of our strategic partners across London and the UK you will be responsible for identifying opportunities to expand our Have a Go programme, Schools workshops and summer school promotion amongst other key events.

 

You will be responsible for open day activities and events at the Academy and ensure that these are innovative and showcase the best the academy has to offer as well as ensuring that the highest quality customer service and information is provided.

 

Generating sales on the day will also see you paid a commission and using your event to generate genuine leads that the Course Information and Sales team can then convert in to an enrolment will also see you financially rewarded. This varied and fast paced role requires someone with a passion for people and for education and someone who can represent the Academy and inspire the next generation of Jewellers.

 

 

Post 3: CAD Technician \ Tutor and Assessor – Full time

 

This position arises as a result of the Academy’s desire to provide high quality accredited vocational training. Knowledge of the Jewellery industry, jewellery manufacture and a strong evidence of competence in the sector are essential as is a commitment to undertake assessor training and other relevant teacher training qualifications. This post will ensure that candidates on qualification programmes are provided with the training and support required enabling them to achieve their qualifications within a specified period of time. In-depth knowledge of CAD CAM is essential.

 

This varied and fast paced role will see you delivering and supporting the delivery of our Industry Certified Cad Qualification, our Level 3 CAD qualifications as well as workshops on our level 2 programmes and short courses as well as providing support to our industry Masterclass specialists. The ability to inspire, teach and administer the programme will be essential.

 

You will also supervise and support open sessions for The Scheme – Holts Academy of Jewellery initiative giving flexible, affordable workspace, bench space and CAD facilities.

 

This holder of this role will be entirely responsible for the delivery, support and quality measures for entire groups of qualification students across Level 2 and 3. This varied role will play a vital part in the development and delivery of qualifications that meet the needs of learners and the jewellery industry.

 

Candidates for the this role will need to have substantial vocational subject specific experience together with a commitment to gain, if you do not already hold, a Level 3 qualification in CAD. You will also hold relevant teaching qualifications or be willing to work towards these within a specific timeframe.

 

Post 4: E-Development and Communication Coordinator – Full or part time fixed term contract

 

 

This position arises as a result of the Academy’s desire to utilise our website and other electronic forms of communication to best effect in promoting the Academy and our opportunities as well as providing inspiration to new entrants to the jewellery sector.

 

This is a varied role which will suit someone with website, e-commerce, social media and marketing or PR experience. Whilst in the first instance this will be on a fixed term basis, should you prove effective in the role a permanent position will be explored.

 

This role will be have the potential to coordinate the marketing and PR plan to support the Academy strategic plan, ensuring consistency in voice and cultivating a successful stream of enquiries from our key target groups. For the right person all Press Releases, marketing and advertising elements, budgets and activations will be part of this role, embedding the candidate fully in to all external communications for the Academy and become the sole point of contact for all press and industry enquires.

 

You will be responsible for producing new content; writing it in an interesting and appealing manner as well as maintaining all aspects of the website and ensuring information is accurate.

 

The ability to monitor and refine activities based on the effectiveness of campaign, Google analytics and SEO data is key.

 

You will manage the Academy presence in social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, and other similar community sites, posting on relevant blogs, and seeding content into social applications as needed as well as managing all external sites and content the Academy registers to post (including Hot Courses, Floodlight, Emagister and others)

 

The right candidate must be able to respond well to pressure whilst thinking creatively and have excellent communication skills (both written and oral) as well as being able to use their own initiative. Up to £24,000 with generous performance related pay scheme

This position arises as a result of the Academy’s desire to provide high quality accredited vocational training. Knowledge of the jewellery industry, jewellery manufacture and a strong evidence base of competence in the sector are essential as is a commitment to undertake A1 assessor training and other relevant teacher training qualifications. This post will ensure that candidates on the NVQ programme are provided with the training and support required to enable them to achieve an NVQ qualification within a specified period of time. This varied role will play a vital part in the development and delivery of qualifications that meet the needs of learners and the jewellery industry.

Part time roles in must include Friday 9am - 2pm.

 

Short Course and master class tutors

The Academy continually seeks to strengthen their portfolio of tutors.  Positions are available to teach class sizes of 1 - 16 students, from a wide variety of beginners to trade.  Applicants must hold skills that are relevant to the level of students that they teach.  Various rates dependant on subjects and quantity of teaching hours. 

 

Student Engagement Officer (Part Time)

The Academy is currently looking for the right candidate to deliver presentations and workshops to learners in schools all over London. This person will be knowledgeable and passionate about jewellery and the industry. They will also have experience in delivering small scale projects, workshop activities and talks to people aged 14 - 19 and be available to work from 5pm - 7pm on various occassions. Salary based on previous experience.
